2011 is here and boy does it have promising titles in store for
movie-lovers, a lot of which are highly anticipated sequels and much
awaited superhero flicks. Below, we’ve compiled a list of ten of the
most drooled-over movies of the year with links to respective trailers (if available) at the end of each description.
Other notable movies scheduled for release this year are sequels X-Men: First Class, a second Sherlock Holmes and Fast Five (Fast and the Furious 5), the action/thriller flick Hannaand The Green Lantern.
Revenge of the Fallen might have
been a step down from the original sci-fi blockbuster, but it was still
pretty engaging and preserved the dynamic action sequences that are
expected from the franchise. The third installment in Michael Bay’s
Transformers series promises to bring all that (minus Megan Fox, to the

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Everyone’s favorite pirate, Jack Sparrow, is all prepped to steal the
screens in May of 2011, this time with a new director (Rob Marshall), an
entirely different storyline packed with mermaids and zombies and last

The Hangover II
Come May, Todd Phillips’ 2009 award-winning comedy blockbuster returns
with a sequel, this time starring Liam Neeson along with most of the
original cast. If the sequel is anything like the original, expect to be
left in stitches. Coming in May, 2011.
Thor
Marvel Comics fans rejoice as the God of Thunder prepares
to unleash the power of his mighty hammer in May of 2011. The trailer
shows an arrogant Thor being stripped of his powers and cast out of
Asgard to live among the mortals of Earth as punishment for disturbing

Captain America: The First Avenger
Cap’s all ready to make it to the big screen once more in July this year in a highly anticipated Marvel Comics superhero movie
directed by Joe Johnston . The WW II veteran super-soldier, Steve
Rogers aka Captain America, is played by Chris Evans who also played the
Human Torch in the Fantastic Four films.
Sucker Punch
From the director of 300, Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead
comes another potential hit film packed with chicks, guns, swords,
dragons, crazy action sequences and visual excellence. The plot centers
on Babydoll, a girl imprisoned
inside a mental institution who ventures into her imagination to escape

The Green Hornet
Based on the superhero that first appeared in the 1936 radio program and
later in comics and a television series, this action flick seems like
it has much to offer. The movie follows
the story of newspaper publisher turned vigilante, Britt Reid aka the
Green Hornet (played by Seth Rogen) and his sidekick, Kato. [Watch Trailer]
Super 8
Not much is known about J. J. Abrams’ upcoming sci-fi thriller, but coming from the director ofCloverfield (2008) and Star Trek (2009),
much is to be expected from this film. The teaser trailer suggests a
plot revolving around Area 51 and alien sightings caught on Super 8mm

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
The second half of the seventh and last installment in the Harry Potter
movie saga is set for release in July this year. Considering the first
part’s success on the charts along with the popularity of J.K. Rowling’s
novel series, the movie is definitely among the most anticipated

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1
Like the Harry Potter series, the film based on the fourth and final
novel in Stephanie Meyers’ immensely popular Twilight series has been
split into two parts. The first part of the romantic fantasy film has
been announced for release in November this year, while the second part has been reserved for November of 2012.
